What is the Society's policy on storing your own blood for possible use in your own transfusion some time in the future if you should ever need it? Anybody know?

I knew three.
Well, one I didn't really know. Can't recall for sure if male or female. This person was quite elderly, and never saw him/her attend any meetings all year long, except the one time at the Memorial Celebration I watched at a distance, and I saw everyone doting on the person in the wheelchair. This was in the congregation at Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.
The other two I knew personally. I was about 19 years of age, and I went pioneering at the time, staying at Lee's place in Brooks, Alberta. We were pretty good friends, but frankly, he did not seem to me to be all that intelligent, and given we were about the same age, he did not seem very mature in his behavior either. He partook of the emblems that year, and those who knew him best questioned his judgment, saying he had a lot of growing up to do. A year or two later he quit taking the emblems.
The third person I knew, Dave, was when I lived in Calgary, Alberta. He was about a year younger than me, and extremely intelligent, winning the Governor General's Award for the highest marks in scholarship exams for the whole province. He was also very likable, and was popular with everyone and played the piano for the congregation. Very talented. Then he went pioneering down around Brooks for a month, and stayed for a while at the farmhouse of my future father-and-mother-in-law. He had never been to a farm before, having been raised in the big city (Calgary), and the only concept he had was buying fruits and vegetables and meat from the grocery store or supermarket. They showed him all the different crops, as well as all the different vegetables growing in the garden, which was a total surprise and delight to him. I could not believe anyone that bright could be so utterly naive and ill-informed all those years since the day he was born. He was raised by his father, but I never saw him at any meetings. Anyway, Dave was a partaker of the emblems, and most accepted him as of the anointed, except I still had questions about his youth.
Which brings me to a question I'm sure most of you had over the year. During the time of Rutherford, those of the 144,000 Anointed Class were supposed to have reached that number. Once 144,000 was reached, then there should be no more new ones of the Anointed. In rare cases, there may be apostasy by one of the Remnant, and then Jehovah is supposed to fill that vacancy with another, making them one of the Anointed. This, however, is supposed to be a rare incident. I could not believe that of all the places in the world, we lived in a very small location, with relatively few JW's by comparison. Why was I seeing these youth becoming of the Anointed? It did not add up to me. How many other incidences of this were going on in other congregations all over the world? So now, every year I could not wait to see the new Yearbook come out, where I could see the number who partook of the emblems around the world. Every year the numbers kept getting smaller. The anointed were all getting older, and so it is logical the numbers would get less every year. But what would happen if the number went up from the previous year by a few? This would kind of make a lie of the proposition that the 144,000 had been filled in previous years, right? Anyway, I have not looked at these statistics for quite some time now, so am curious if this has happened at all. Anyone know fore sure?

Hey Guys, if I'm wrong, then I stand corrected. It seemed like a pretty good case. I am all ears for anyone to show how and why this is all wrong or erroneous.
And for the record, I am not in any way some health food nut or advocate.

I received an interesting email from a friend today. Here it is.
Subject: Fw: Sugar Substitute
Reading this information & sharing it, might mean saving a life or
improving the quality of someone's life, maybe yours.
In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick, she had
stomach spasms, she was having a hard time getting around, to walk was a major
chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed, she was in so much pain.
By March 2002, she had undergone biopsies, and was on 24 various
prescription medications. The doctors could not figure out what was wrong
with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick, she knew she was dying.
She put her house, bank accounts, life Insurance, etc., in her oldest
daughters name, and made sure her younger children were to be with her oldest
daughter. She wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida
(basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.
On March 19th I called her to ask her how one of her tests went, and
she said they didn't find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS. I
thought, oh, my...then I recalled an article a friend of mine emailed
to me...and I asked her....Do you drink Diet pop?
She told me yes, as a matter of fact she was getting ready to crack one
open that moment. I told her not to open it, and stop drinking the diet
pop....and I emailed her the following article
She called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me
she stopped drinking the diet pop, and she can walk..she went up the
stairs, and the muscle spasms went away. She said she didn't feel 100% well,
but sure felt a lot better. She told me she was going to her doctor with
this article and would call me back when she got home.
She called me, and her doctor was amazed, he is going to call all of
his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweetener!
In a nutshell she was being poisoned by the aspartame in the diet soda,
dying a slow death! When she got to FL March 22nd, all she had to take was one pill, and
that was a pill for poisoning.....she is well on her way to recovery.....and
she is walking!!! No wheelchair!!! This article saved her life!!!
The life saving article:
If it says "SUGAR FREE," on the label, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
Have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE
on "ASPARTAME" marketed as 'NutraSweet,' 'Equal,' and 'Spoonful.' In the
keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States
in 2001 there is an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus,
that it was hard to understand what toxin was causing this to be rampant. I
stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.
I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous:
When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood
alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to Formaldehyde, and then to formic acid,
which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found
in the sting of fire ants.)
The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis.
People were being diagnosed with having multiple sclerosis in error.
The multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, where methanol toxicity is!Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis;
especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually
does not know that the aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its
use, irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become life-threatening.
We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptomatic once
taken off diet sodas. In the case of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis,
(when in reality, the disease is methanol toxicity), most of the symptoms
disappear. We've seen many cases where vision returned and hearing improved
markedly.
This also applies to cases of tinnitus
During the lecture I said "If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet,
Equal, Spoonful, etc.) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms,
shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches,
tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred
vision, or memory loss....you probably have ASPARTAME DISEASE!"People were jumping up during the lecture saying, I've got some of
these symptoms: Is it reversible? Yes!
Not drinking diet sodas and keeping an eye out for aspartame on food
labels. Yes!
We have a very serious problem. A stranger came up to Dr. Espisto (one
of my speakers) and me and said: "Could you tell me why so many people
seem to be coming down with MS? During a visit to a hospice, a nurse said that
six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been
diagnosed with MS. This is beyond coincidence!
Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi, etc. are NOT A DIET PRODUCT!
The Congressional Record states that it makes you crave carbohydrates
and will make you FAT. The formaldehyde stores in the fat cells,
particularly if no significant increase in exercise, etc.
Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics. We found that physicians
would believe that they have a patient with retinopathy, when in fact
the symptoms are caused by aspartame! The aspartame drives the blood sugar
out of control! Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact
that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are neurotoxic without the other amino
acids found in protein. Thus it passes the blood brain barrier and
deteriorates the neurons of the brain, causing in diabetics (as well as in
patients not suffering from diabetes) various kinds of brain damage,
seizures, depression, manic seizures, manic depression, panic attacks,
rage, violence. (The Aspartame in thousands of pallets of diet Coke and
diet Pepsi, consumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War may be
partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.)
Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects: I.e. mental
retardation if taken at the time of conception and early pregnancy. Children are
especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NOT be given
NutraSweet. I can relate different case histories of children having
mal seizures and other disturbances, being on NutraSweet. Unfortunately it is
not always easy to convince a mother that aspartame is to blame for her
child's illness. Only by trial and success will she be able to warn other
mothers to take their children's health into their own hands.
Stevia, a sweet herb, NOT A MANUFACTURED ADDITIVE, which helps in the
metabolism of sugar (which would be ideal for diabetics) has now been approved as a dietary supplement by the FDA. For years the FDA has outlawed this sweet food because of their loyalty to MONSANTO.
Books on this subject are available: EXCITOTOXINS: THE TASTE THAT KILLS
written by Dr. Russell Blayblock (Health Press 1-800-643-2665) and
DEFENSE AGAINST ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE - written by DR H. J. Roberts, also
a diabetic specialist.
These two doctors will be posting a position paper with some case
histories on the deadly effects of Aspartame on the Internet.
According to the Conference of the American College of Physicians "we are
talking about a plague of neurological diseases caused by this deadly poison."
Here is the problem: There were Congressional Hearings when aspartame
was included in 100 different products. Since this initial hearing, there have
been two subsequent hearings, but to no avail. Nothing has been done.
The drug and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets. Now there are over
5,000 products containing this chemical, and the PATENT HAS EXPIRED!!!!!
I assure you, MONSANTO, the creator of Aspartame knows how deadly it
is. They fund among others, the American Diabetes Association, the American
Dietetic Association, the Conference of the American College of Physicians.
This has been exposed in the New York Times - to no avail. These
Associations cannot criticize any additives or convey their link to
MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry and have to
endorse their products.
Senator Howard Hetzenbaum wrote a bill that would have warned all infants,
pregnant mothers and children of the dangers of aspartame. The bill
would have also instituted independent studies on the problems existing in
the population (seizures, changes in brain chemistry, changes neurological
and behavioral symptoms). It was killed by the powerful drug and chemical
lobbies, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting public!

A challege for Bible scholars
by jaffacake incan anyone find any scriptures in either old or new testaments which contain the following phrases, or word combinations?
i will accept any bible versions:
new light
-
Rod P
I don't think you will find any of those words, per se, in either the O.T. or the N.T., regardless of what version you use. The reason is all of the versions of the Bible are attempts to translate the words written in Hebrew and Greek into English (or some other language). However, I do think the Concepts implied by those words in your question can be found in the Bible.
Perhaps you need to rephrase your question.

Morphogenic Fields Explained by "The Hundredth Monkey" - by Ken Keyes Jr.
The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.
In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys like the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant. An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers too.
This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists. Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable. Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.
Then something startling took place. In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes- the exact number is not known.
Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkey on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes. Let's futher suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.
By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them. The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!
But notice. A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea.
Colonies of monkeys on the other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasaklyama began washing their sweet potatoes.
Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind. Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know of a new way, it may remain the conscious property of these people. But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!" END....
Comments: I think there is a lot more going on in the Universe than what our five senses can detect. And at our stage of development/evolution, even the extensions of our senses, namely the technological inventions that help us see beyond our physical sensory apparatus, we have still only become aware of a limited number of other energies and phenomena (eg. x-rays, gamma rays, ultra-violet, infra-red, electricity).
There are dozens of other phenomena that have been observed and verified, and yet science is scrambling to find plausible explanations for their existence. Examples are telekinesis (i.e. the ability to move an object on the physical plane using only the power of the mind)
So to regard Mysticism as a kind of mythological wishful thinking merely because it is unverifiable at the present time is, IMO, a bit short-sighted, even prejudicial.

DO YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF ASPERGER'S SYNDROME?
by Terry inthere is a general impression that asperger's syndrome carries with it superior intelligence and a tendency to become very interested in and preoccupied with a particular subject.
most children with asperger's disorder have difficulty interacting with their peers.
they tend to be loners and may display eccentric behaviors.
-
Rod P
I have never heard of Asperger's Syndrome until now. Very interesting.
However, it appears to me that a lot of these symptoms are similar to certain other conditions:
1) Savant's- who have one particular skill that is virtually genius level (eg. playing piano, painting)
2) Extreme Shyness- Some people are so shy that they withdraw from the world and then internalize their reality modality. They then focus on a particular subject and become immersed in it, sometimes to the point of obsession. They grow up totally lacking in social skills, and as a result, cannot interact with other people. This then intensifies their inner world, their safe haven. They do not have to face the horrifying prospects of rejection or ridicule. An example is in the case of some of those individuals referred to as "Computer Geeks". I even wonder about this generation of young people where an inordinate number of them seem to be addicted to the internet to the point they cocoon themselves in their rooms and spend every spare moment on the internet, sitting in chat rooms and interacting with people all over the world from a keyboard, and yet not having any friends at school, and not even interested in real life friends.
I am not so sure about concluding that a reasonable profile of R&F JW's or other Cultic Groups being characteristically "Asperger'ous", or suffering from such symptoms, although I am sure they would all have their share of such personalities. On the other hand, I find it significant, (and a lot of professionals who specialize in this area have commented on this) that most people who join cults seem to have a predisposition towards belonging to an organization where the leadership does their thinking for them, and which creates expectations for certain behaviors, and all they have to do is practice obedience. They are followers in the strict sense of the word, and feel safe under the umbrella of a strong hand, where they do not have to risk being the centre of attention, and having to make decisions on their own. If they had to be the leader, they would flounder in indecision, and feelings of vulnerability. This is not to say that there are no effective leaders in cults; however, when it comes to following the Organization that feeds them, even these leaders are exceptional followers. After awhile, they become conditioned to unquestioning loyalty, no matter what the inconsistencies and insanities at the top.I believe this is one of the reasons it is so difficult for a converted JW to leave. The world out there is just too scary!
This does not account for all the JW's who were born into the faith, which has little or nothing to do with why they would become baptized members. However, they learn from the examples of their parents from infancy what it means to be a good JW, and that conditions them to all the right responses and behaviors.
I certainly do not have all the answers here, but sure do want to learn more about this whole subject matter, including Asperger's Syndrome. Thanks for sharing.

in about fifty-two minutes time...
by zaphod in...my gran, who has been a jw since the 1950's will be reproved publicly for speaking to her grand-daughter who is disfellowshipped.
she is 77 years old and i am worried that it will be the death of her.
the"truth" has been her life for nearly fifty years and she is still a regular publisher.. if she continues to commit this gross sin she will be disfellowshipped.. her daughter and son in law are to be disfellowshipped for the terrible sin of allowing their daughter to live under their roof since she left her husband.
-
Rod P
Zaphod,
There are none so blind as those who will not see. These so-called leaders of the congregation are mere puppets in the hands of the GB/WBTS propaganda machine. They have no sense of perspective or proportion, meting out such severe punishment to an elderly woman, after 50 years of dedicated service, just for reaching out to a family loved one who happened to be "branded" by the same organization the created this mess in the first place.
This whole empire is just plain SICK. And it's all based on a misinterpretation of Scripture to begin with.
That poor woman! Maybe this thing will serve as a useful catalyst to wake her up to just what she has been serving all these years. I just hope she can hold herself together in all this, no thanks to them.
